What will you do?
- Lead the technical definition and delivery of optical payloads for Earth Observation missions.
- Act as the technical authority for optical payloads within the spacecraft manufacturer.
- Define system-level requirements and ensure payload performance meets mission objectives.
- Manage payload procurement activities and oversee subcontractor performance.
- Evaluate subcontractor optical designs at system level, ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Perform payload performance modelling and analysis using tools such as Zemax, Code V, MATLAB, Python, and STK.
- Ensure alignment with space mission lifecycles and applicable standards (ECSS, NASA, ISO).
- Drive end-to-end payload performance, balancing cost, schedule, and risk constraints.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across the project lifecycle.
- Support technical decision-making and contribute to overall mission success.
What are we looking for?
- Recognized engineering degree (MSc or PhD) in Optical Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in payload procurement and subcontractor management.
- Strong knowledge of optical imaging principles, detectors, and calibration.
- Experience evaluating optical payload designs at system level.
- Experience with payload performance modelling and analysis tools (Zemax, Code V, MATLAB, Python, STK).
- Familiarity with space mission lifecycles and standards (ECSS, NASA, ISO).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Python.
