Job Summary
Flowserve is seeking a Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer to provide expert technical support for pumps and mechanical seals at key customers within Spain and Italy. The primary goal is to increase MTBR of end‑user rotating equipment as part of Flowserve’s Life Cycle Advantage (LCA) programs. You will act as a technical expert and troubleshooter for centrifugal pumps, mechanical seals, and other rotating equipment such as steam turbines, compressors, centrifuges, mixers, and agitators.
Your Role
- Analyze equipment failure trends across large populations of customer rotating machines and identify focus areas for reducing the overall number of repairs within LCA programs.
- Assess damaged components for complex bad actors and critical failures, determining the physical interactions that led to observed defects.
- Use Root Cause Analysis methods to dig deeper into the machine, pumping systems, repair processes, and operating practices to define the underlying reasons for failure.
- Based on RCA, define appropriate solutions such as equipment upgrades to latest technology or changes in operating procedures and practices.
- Identify opportunities where Flowserve equipment and/or services can help increase reliability, reduce energy consumption, or reduce operational costs, and support the relevant Engineering Teams and Sales in generating proposals.
Working as part of a team of engineers supporting LCA programs across Europe and the Middle East, you will be responsible for key customers in Spain and Italy, working directly with end users and visiting their facilities as necessary. You will also work closely with LCA Application Engineers, Sales, and other specialist Flowserve engineering teams.
Your Profile Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Rotating Equipment Engineer, Machinery Engineer, or similar engineering role with significant exposure to rotating equipment.
- Previous experience troubleshooting centrifugal pumps and/or mechanical seals.
- Previous experience performing and leading Root Cause Failure Analysis.
- Excellent data analytics skills with high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering field.
- Highly proficient in both Spanish and English (minimum CEFR grade C1 or equivalent).
Desirable Criteria and Qualifications
- Working knowledge of API‑610 and API‑682.
- Working knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (vibration monitoring, oil analysis, etc.).
- Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Experience with steam turbines, compressors, centrifuges, mixers, and agitators.
Location
- Candidate must be located within Spain, ideally near Tarragona. Home working from other locations within Spain will also be considered.
- Position requires approximately 60% travel. A company car will be provided.
