Corporate Head of People & Labor Relations

Neuraxpharm is looking for a Corporate Head of People & Labor Relations based in Barcelona

(hybrid role)

Your mission:

Lead the Global People Labor Relations agenda with a strong focus on Spanish labor law, ensuring full compliance while balancing legal risk with business needs.

Act as the key internal expert on employment labor relations & legal matters, providing pragmatic &strategic advice on complex labor topics (collective bargaining agreements, employee relations cases potential labor relation conflicts cases, …), and ensuring consistency and governance across the organization.

Build and maintain effective relationships with works councils and employee representatives, supporting sustainable business outcomes. Contribute to the alignment of people policies and provide selective support on international labor matters. 

Your major accountabilities:

1. Global Compliance, Governance & Risk Management

1. Define and establish global frameworks to manage labour relations across the organization (with support of local people department).
2. Monitor the external labor landscape (legislation, case law, collective agreements, trends) and new Group’s labor regulations and practices, ensuring aligment with legal compliance requirements across jurisdictions.
3. Provide labor relations advisory support while working closely with local People Managers and external legal advisors.
4. Ensure full compliance with labor laws, internal policies and governance frameworks across :

Spain, Greece, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Middle East and Australia

5. Drive continuous improvement of HR processes and policies related to labor relations.
6. Lead and preparation of internal audits and legal reviews,identification of potential labor risks early (e.g., employee claims, collective conflicts, compliance gaps) and implement mitigation plans.
7. Participate in cross-country HR or transformation projects involving labor-related topics.

 2. Works Council & Trade Union Management

8. Lead all interactions with Works Councils and employee representatives, ensuring transparent, structured and compliant engagement.
9. Own the full lifecycle of collective negotiations (preparation, strategy, negotiation, documentation, communication, and implementation).
10. Build and maintain constructive relationships with unions, balancing business needs with employee representation dynamics.
11. Ensure effective preparation and documentation of information and consultation processes under Spanish labor regulations.

3. Labor Relations Strategy and Employee Relations Case Management

12. Define and implement the labor relations strategy for Spain,Greece, Portugal, Mexico, Brazil, Middle East and Australia ensuring alignment with business priorities while safeguarding legal compliance and minimizing risk exposure.
13. Act as the go-to expert on selected international markets, labor law, providing an “hands on” and pragmatic actions and business-oriented guidance on complex labor topics.
14. Asses, lead, oversee and execute complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary procedures, investigations, grievances, and terminations.
15. Ensure robust documentation, consistency and legal defensibility of all decisions.
16. Provide hands-on support to People Department and managers in sensitive cases, including risk assessment, options analysis and recommended approach.
17. Preparation for court proceeding
18. Coordinate with external Counsels on litigation and pre-litigation scenarios.
19. Business advisory in labor relations impact of potential changes in the structure while ensuring all new structures initiatives are legally compliant, well documented and executed in line with internal governance.
20. Assess risks and define scenarios and cost implications (including dismissal exposure, negotiation strategies, etc.). 

4. Business Partnering & Leadership Support

21. Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing clear and actionable recommendations on labor and HR matters.
22. Lead Labour trainings inside the organization
23. Ensure a consistent and fair approach to HR decisions across the organization.

5. Data, Insights & Continuous Improvement

24. Working closely with People Insights Dep. In order to provide labor-related KPIs (absenteeism, disciplinary cases, litigation trends, employee climate indicators).
25. Translate insights into preventative actions and strategic recommendations for leadership.
26. Drive initiatives to improve employee relations climate and reduce operational/legal risks.

We would like you to have:

27. Minimum 8–10 years of professional experience in Labor Relations / Employee Relations, with solid exposure to Spanish labor law and proven experience in international cases.
28. Qualified Law degree specialized in Labor/Employment law, orBusiness postgraduate qualification (e.g., master’s in labor law, HR Management, MBA) 
29. Experience in pharma industry
30. Background as a qualified lawyer with proven experience in labor law (in-house or law firm) in international cases
31. Demonstrated track record in:
32. Collective bargaining and negotiations with Works Councils / Trade Unions Strong execution-oriented profile, with direct involvement in employee actions and complex labor negotiations. Capable to Manage complex employee relations cases (disciplinary actions, dismissals, litigation support) Advising senior stakeholders on legal risk and labor strategy
33. Exposure to multinational environments and coordination with international HR / Legal teams 
34. Spanish and English language fluent
