The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Specialised Researcher to work at the Medicinal Chemistry Unit of the Knowledge and Technology Transfer and Industrial Projects Department.

The researcher will work on the design, docking analysis and synthesis of molecules with biological activity with the aim to reinforce the Molecular Medicine strategic programmes of ICIQ.)
Responsibilities
Conduct docking simulations on biological targets of interest for ICIQ
In-silico design of molecules
Propose pharmacophore hopping and other derivatives to improve ADME properties
Synthesis of the designed molecules
Complete documentation of results
Maintenance of laboratory equipment
Redact project plans, proposals and applications to competitive and private funding
Write reports and deliver result presentations in group meetings
Requirements
PhD in Chemistry
Demonstrable use of software for docking analysis
Demonstrated capacity to conduct experimental synthetic tasks in medicinal chemistry programmes
Knowledge in characterisation techniques relevant to the position: HPLC, GC, MS, IR, NMR
Good knowledge of English (written and spoken)
Strong commitment to scientific excellence
Motivated, creative and problem‐solving individual
Capacity to work and be integrated in a Medicinal Chemistry team with ongoing health programmes
Valued qualities
A PhD and preferably postdoctoral experience in a medicinal chemistry group performing similar activities will be positively evaluated
Knowledge of computational tools for dynamic simulation
Good communication skills

Selection Process
Pre‐selection: The pre‐selection process will be based on qualifications and expertise as reflected on the candidates CVs. This phase is merit‐based.
Interview: Preselected candidates will be interviewed by the Hiring Manager of the position and the appointed Selection Committee.
Offer Letter: Once the successful candidate is selected the People Unit will extend a Job Offer specifying the start day, salary and overall job conditions.
An evaluation committee will be constituted for the selection process composed by: Dr. Fernando Bravo (head of the KTT department), Dr. Ma Ángeles Sarmentero (project researcher at the Medicinal Chemistry unit) and Dana Dougham (talent officer). The evaluation committee will perform the evaluation ensuring absence of conflict of interest with any of the candidates and will sign a Declaration of Absence of Conflict of Interest (DACI). In case a conflict of interest arises, the evaluator will be substituted by a different evaluator with similar expertise.
