We are looking for a German speaking Ratings Analyst to join Sustainable Fitch, based in Barcelona, Spain. The role focuses on integrating ESG considerations into credit ratings and research for companies and debt instruments worldwide.
About the Team
Part of the Fitch Group, Sustainable Fitch researches sustainability themes for companies and their debt instruments. Team members generate sustainability assessments for entities and debt issuances, support product development, and collaborate with global specialists.
Responsibilities
* Apply Sustainable Fitch’s analytical methodologies and assess sustainability impacts of financial and non‑financial activities.
* Deliver high‑quality, timely written analysis on sustainability characteristics and performance of entities and debt issuances, supported by factual data.
* Monitor a portfolio of companies on a daily basis.
* Keep up‑to‑date with global sustainability trends, regulations, and sector‑specific developments.
* Collaborate with global colleagues to leverage knowledge and build international experience.
Qualifications
* Degree in environmental science, social risk, governance‑related discipline, economics, business, or finance.
* 1–3 years of experience in sustainability, including current market themes, regulation, and international taxonomies (e.g., EU Taxonomy).
* Basic financial literacy; capable of working with data.
* Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
* Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Self‑starter who prioritises and manages time effectively.
* Full professional proficiency in German and English; additional language beneficial.

* Passion for sustainability and knowledge of international taxonomies (EU Taxonomy, OECD Guidelines, UN Global Compact).
* Financial expertise and interest in credit, fixed‑income, and industry analysis.
* Intellectual curiosity and interest in responsible investing and sustainable finance.
* Proficiency in another language besides German and English (preferred: Japanese, Nordic languages, Spanish, Portuguese).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload.
* Comfortable researching companies across multiple sectors, synthesising information, and summarising legal and regulatory documents.
