Overview
Join our team and become a critical problem‑solver in the world’s most innovative cloud infrastructure ecosystem. As a Data Center Engineering Operations Technician, you will apply your electrical or mechanical expertise to ensure the seamless operation of global cloud systems and contribute to the stability of one of the world’s largest information system infrastructures.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Maintain Safety Standards: Follow and uphold the highest safety protocols, encourage a strong safety culture, and collaborate with other teams to identify and remediate safety risks.
* Perform Operational Monitoring: Conduct routine rounds and take daily operational readings of electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPS systems, switchgear, circuit breakers, automatic transfer switches, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC systems, exhaust fans, variable‑frequency drives, and transformers.
* Troubleshoot Equipment Issues: Diagnose and resolve operational events within established service level agreements, applying electrical and mechanical knowledge to restore systems to optimal performance.
* Coordinate Maintenance Activities: Supervise contractors performing servicing and preventive maintenance on critical facility equipment, ensuring work meets standards and timelines.
* Support Facility Operations: Contribute to the overall reliability and efficiency of data center operations through consistent attention to equipment performance and facility needs.
* Shift Rotation: Work early mornings, nights, and weekends as required and use your own transportation to access sites that may lack public transportation links.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will be the technical guardian of our data center operations, working hands‑on with electrical and mechanical equipment that powers our cloud infrastructure. Your typical day involves taking routine operational readings of critical systems—monitoring temperatures, voltages, and currents across equipment like UPS systems, generators, chillers, and HVAC units—responding to operational events, collaborating with contractors during preventive maintenance, and participating in safety initiatives to identify and remediate potential risks.
