Role summary
We are seeking a
Research Scientist / Laboratory Lead
to take an active leadership role in our microbiology laboratories. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and implementing the laboratory's scientific strategy, managing daily operations, and supervising a multidisciplinary research team. The position offers a high level of autonomy and scientific responsibility, as well as opportunities for collaboration with internal R&D; units, external partners, and academic institutions.
Main responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily laboratory activities, ensuring scientific excellence and operational efficiency.
- Define and implement research strategies aligned with the company's innovation roadmap.
- Supervise and mentor laboratory staff, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage and optimize workflows related to fungal and bacterial inoculum preparation.
- Oversee the quality control of microbial agricultural products.
- Perform molecular analyses (PCR, qPCR, and related methods).
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 quality standards.
- Contribute to the design and execution of R&D; projects, including preparation of scientific publications, technical reports, and funding proposals.
- Liaise with internal and external collaborators to foster innovation and technology transfer.
Qualifications and experience
Essential requirements
- MSc and/or PhD in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or related field.
- Proven experience in microbiology and plant physiology.
- Strong background in molecular biology and biochemical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to lead laboratory work independently and manage multiple projects.
Desirable qualifications
- Hands-on experience in cultivation and maintenance of fungi (especially mycorrhizae) and bacteria.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 quality standards and their practical implementation in laboratory environments.
- Experience in quality assurance and method validation processes.
- Previous involvement in collaborative research projects or industrial-academic partnerships.
