OverviewAPM Terminals is a global leader in port and terminal operations that enables global trade and drives sustainable growth. As part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, we connect economies and communities worldwide. Our success is driven by a strong commitment to LEAN methodologies and continuous improvement. Join us to be part of a team that values excellence, collaboration, and innovation. We foster a dynamic learning and training culture that empowers our employees to excel. Our commitment to continuous improvement is driven by LEAN principles, ensuring every team member has the opportunity to develop their skills and advance their careers.Operational excellence is one of the four core strategic pillars of APM Terminals’ long-term strategy: “This is our platform for current and new terminals, where all value streams are standard, scalable, and replicable from acquisition, to construction, integration and all the way down to running a terminal”.Implementing, optimizing and scaling Operations Technology will play a pivotal role in achieving our strategic goals, ranging from initiatives like implementing complex brownfield automation to optimize manhours per move, to deploying modular and scalable solutions in more conventional terminals. To be successful, our terminals need to be supported by a focused, aligned and agile global team that adds value through subject matter expertise, standardization and agile decision making. As part of the Process Automation team within the Operations Technology function, the Product Development Coordinator plays a key role in designing, developing, testing and implementing process automation systems that are modular, scalable, agnostic, fast to implement and easy to integrate. This role will be crucial to follow process automation solutions with standardization, modularization and value generation as guiding principles.Additionally, the role will drive product development roadmaps, aligning features development with value creation, supported by the product management coordinators and leads. It will design and create prototypes and proofs of concepts aligned with the product development roadmap, identify risks and deviations, and provide support during all product live phases.Focus areas/main deliverables: Design, develop, test, and implement IIoT solutions, prototypes and PoCs to digitize assets and processes, enable real-time process automation, and support other strategic initiatives using asset/process data.Key stakeholders: OT PA Leads, OT PA Product Leads, OT PA Product Coordinators, Terminals, OEMs/suppliers, OT Process Automation, OT Optimisation, OT Process Design and Management, GLASS/Automation Support, Project Execution, Labour Excellence, Decarbonisation, FLOW, Lean, Asset Maintenance, OPS, HSSE and Finance.Principal Accountabilities:The Process Automation Product Development Coordinator will report to and work closely with the Process Automation, R&D and Product Integration Senior Manager during solution design, ensuring all functional and non-functional requirements from stakeholders are considered and documented. The selected candidate will be responsible for assessing the market to identify potential COTS solutions and/or developing these internally in close collaboration with the Process Automation Product Leads and Coordinators and under the supervision of the Innovation, R&D and Product Integration Senior Manager. The Process Automation Product Development Coordinator will create the solution design based on selected hardware/software elements, document the solution and fine-tune based on feedback from internal and external stakeholders.Product Development Coordinator will be responsible for assembling the prototypes (or coordinating this via 3rd parties) and testing the solution in internal test environments. Once tested, they will perform PoC testing in specified operational environments to prove viability. Operational testing will be performed with other Process Automation team members, OT QA, and the Product Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating this team during testing. Finally, Product Development Coordinator will ensure the required documentation is created according to internal stakeholders’ requirements and that the solution is handed over to the relevant teams for productization, deployment and iteration across terminals/assets in the portfolio. The Product Development Coordinator needs to be available to travel to different locations for short periods to identify use cases, discuss the solution with stakeholders, coordinate on-site testing, deploy the product, and troubleshoot issues if they occur. On a daily basis, Product Development Coordinator will:- Work closely with Process Automation departments to ensure alignment and coordination from conceptual design to full deployment.- Compile and collect stakeholders’ needs and identify potential common opportunities to develop new use cases.- Proactively identify new use cases that can be easily enabled with the existing technological footprint.- Create the required technical documentation, training material, guides, and manuals according to department guidelines.- Drive the definition, development and testing of internal products during prototyping and Proof of Concept phases and support other Process Automation initiatives as needed.- Search the market for emerging technologies and assess viability in close consultation with other team members.- Communicate any new developments or initiatives under scope and the outcomes of research and testing.- Support meetings and tasks such as documentation, review of materials or communicating outcomes internally when needed.- Attend conferences and forums to identify new/emerging technologies that could expand Process Automation product value-add.Shared responsibilities- Product development roadmap delivery (with PA Leads and Coordinators)- Budget Compliance (with PA Leads and Coordinators)- Oversee and support QA/test cases (OT PD&M/Terminal/Tech)- Support and contribute to new products documentation, requirements and deployment documentation (with PA Leads and Coordinators)- Application of IT and OT standards (with relevant stakeholders)- Change management and product adoption (AD/OT PM&D /Terminal/Operations function)- End users training (Terminal)- Level 3 Support (with rest PA Leads & GLASS)Critical Qualifications/Skills/Experience:Education:- Engineering or equivalent experience in embedded systems, electronics, automation, information technologies or a combination.Experience:- IoT device testing, installation and integration- Repairing or installing embedded devices in harsh environments.- Reverse engineering black box devices.- Developing and creating electronics prototypes- Hardware design and software programming.Technical Skills:- Embedded device design and development using electronic design tools such as EasyEDA, OrCAD, Eagle, Proteus, or others.- Programming languages for embedded devices such as C, C++, MicroPython or others.- PLC control logic development- IoT integration platforms such as node-red, n8n, The Things Network or similar.- High level programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#- Protocols such as MQTT, Kafka, AMQ, IP, Serial (RS485, RS232, etc.)- Industrial Automation knowledge, including SCADA, PLC, HMI- Inductive Automation Ignition experience (preferably with certification).- Linux and Windows administration.- IPv4 and IPv6 networking with basic segmentation concepts.- ISA 95 and ISA 99 knowledge and trainings are valuable.Soft Skills:- Maker profile with a hands-on, do-it-yourself approach.- Lateral thinking, proactivity, resilience and focus.- Open personality and strong communication skills.- Ability to break down large problems and analyze components.- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in diverse teams.- Native Spanish speaker and intermediate English level.- Ability to explain technical solutions to non-technical people.- Resilience and tolerance to frustration.#LI-SS1Maersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace and is an equal opportunity employer.
