About the role
We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function supporting the Formula 1 Madrid project at MATCH Hospitality. Based in Valencia, this role will oversee the financial operations of the project, ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting, compliance, and effective business partnering across the organisation.
The Financial Controller will manage the day-to-day finance activities, supervise junior finance team members, and play a key role in supporting strategic and operational decision-making within a fast-paced international environment.
Key responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes
Prepare and review management accounts and financial reports
Deliver variance analysis, forecasting, and financial performance insights
Support budgeting and reforecasting processes
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting
Treasury & Cash Flow
Manage cash flow planning and treasury activities
Monitor liquidity and working capital requirements
Oversee bank reconciliations and payment controls
Support financial planning related to project operations and supplier commitments
Audit, Compliance & Controls
Lead internal and external audit processes
Ensure compliance with local accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements
Maintain and improve internal financial controls and procedures
Manage risk analysis and support mitigation strategies
Coordinate preparation of supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviews
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Operations
Oversee billing, collections, and supplier payment processes
Ensure timely invoicing and effective management of outstanding balances
Supervise reconciliations and transactional accounting activities
Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies within the finance function
Team Leadership & Business Partnering
Manage and support junior finance team members
Act as a key finance contact for operational stakeholders and senior management
Support commercial and operational decision-making with financial analysis
Contribute to the development and implementation of finance processes and systems

Experience working with ERP systems is essential, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365

Essential experience
~5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or controlling roles
~ Previous experience managing or supervising finance team members
~ Strong experience in financial reporting, month-end close, and forecasting
~ Experience leading audit processes and managing financial controls
~ Solid understanding of treasury, tax, and compliance requirements
~ Experience working in international, project-based, or fast-paced businesses
~ Previous experience within hospitality, sports, events, or large-scale commercial operations is desirable
