Overview
This is what you will do:
The Director, R&D; Cost Forecasting, is a key leadership role within Alexion General Portfolio and Program Management (GPPM) responsible for external cost forecasting in partnership with Alexion R&D; functions and Finance. This Subject Matter Expert (SME) will be responsible for establishing the capability to accurately model and forecast external costs for R&D; programs, inclusive of developing cost algorithms, analyzing historical and operational data to improve model accuracy, and tracking actual costs vs. forecast to understand variances.
Responsibilities
Lead the creation, documentation, and maintenance of algorithms to translate program schedules into cost over time.
Generate cost forecasts and partner with program managers to validate ahead of key governance and business cycle reviews.
Partner with program managers and functional partners to execute monthly program cost update, tracking and reporting.
Lead efforts to improve the cost forecasting process and related systems.
Develop modeling and insights to effectively inform decision-making on portfolio cost evolution.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or science field.
12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with hands-on, comprehensive knowledge about product development and related cost modeling.
Knowledge of modeling and forecasting methodologies and application to biopharmaceutical development costing.
Proficiency in Planisware and demonstrated experience with advanced analytical tools/models and decision support platforms, e.G., PowerBI.
Strong analytical skills with proven ability to transform complex data analyses into key insights that support funding decisions.
Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships to successfully operate in a highly matrix-based organization while balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Solution based, creative thinker with strong communication skills (written and verbal).
Detail oriented and independently motivated.
Preferred
MBA/M.S./M.A., or equivalent level of experience.
