About the roleWe are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function supporting the Formula 1 Madrid project at MATCH Hospitality. Based in Valencia, this role will oversee the financial operations of the project, ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting, compliance, and effective business partnering across the organisation.The Financial Controller will manage the day-to-day finance activities, supervise junior finance team members, and play a key role in supporting strategic and operational decision-making within a fast-paced international environment.Key responsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingLead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processesPrepare and review management accounts and financial reportsDeliver variance analysis, forecasting, and financial performance insightsSupport budgeting and reforecasting processesEnsure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reportingTreasury & Cash FlowManage cash flow planning and treasury activitiesMonitor liquidity and working capital requirementsOversee bank reconciliations and payment controlsSupport financial planning related to project operations and supplier commitmentsAudit, Compliance & ControlsLead internal and external audit processesEnsure compliance with local accounting, tax, and regulatory requirementsMaintain and improve internal financial controls and proceduresManage risk analysis and support mitigation strategiesCoordinate preparation of supporting documentation for audits and compliance reviewsAccounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & OperationsOversee billing, collections, and supplier payment processesEnsure timely invoicing and effective management of outstanding balancesSupervise reconciliations and transactional accounting activitiesDrive process improvements and operational efficiencies within the finance functionTeam Leadership & Business PartneringManage and support junior finance team membersAct as a key finance contact for operational stakeholders and senior managementSupport commercial and operational decision-making with financial analysisContribute to the development and implementation of finance processes and systemsEssential SkillsStrong financial reporting and analytical skillsExcellent organisational and leadership abilitiesStrong attention to detail and problem-solving mindsetAbility to manage priorities and work under pressureStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsAdvanced Excel skillsExperience working with ERP systems is essential, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced international environmentEssential experience5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or controlling rolesPrevious experience managing or supervising finance team membersStrong experience in financial reporting, month-end close, and forecastingExperience leading audit processes and managing financial controlsSolid understanding of treasury, tax, and compliance requirementsExperience working in international, project-based, or fast-paced businessesPrevious experience within hospitality, sports, events, or large-scale commercial operations is desirable
