Position Summary

Assistant Chef: Assists the Head Chef/Executive Chef in daily kitchen operations, including ingredient preparation, cooking assistance, kitchen cleaning, and food safety management. This position is a crucial member of the culinary team, helping to ensure food quality and efficient kitchen operation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cooking & Food Preparation

Assists the Head Chef in preparing and cooking dishes.

Cut ingredients to ensure freshness, hygiene, and standardized portion sizes.

Learn and master recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistent flavor.

1. Kitchen Operations Support

Assists in daily inventory management, checking ingredients, seasonings, and other kitchen items.

Assists in controlling ingredient costs and reducing waste.

Works with the kitchen team to prepare dishes during peak hours.

1. Food Safety & Hygiene

Adhere to food safety standards and kitchen hygiene regulations.

Clean and disinfect kitchen equipment and work surfaces, maintaining a clean and tidy kitchen.

Monitor food storage temperature and expiration dates to ensure food safety.

1. Training & Development

Learn cooking techniques, ingredient pairing, and kitchen management skills under the guidance of the head chef.

Participate in the trial production of new dishes and menu updates.

Provide suggestions for improving kitchen processes and food quality.

Qualifications

1. Education

Vocational school/college diploma or above in a culinary-related field.

Preferred qualifications include culinary training or cooking certificates (e.g., HACCP, Food Safety Certificate).

1. Skills & Competencies

Basic cooking skills; understanding of Chinese, Western, or local specialty cooking processes.

Familiarity with kitchen tools, equipment operation, and ingredient handling.

Attention to detail; able to maintain high standards of hygiene and quality.

Strong teamwork spirit; able to work under pressure.

1. **Easy Learning Ability and Willingness to Embrace New Dishes and Cooking Methods**

**Experience:**

Preference will be given to candidates with prior internship, part-time, or full-time experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen.

Recent graduates can quickly get up to speed through training.

**Desired Attributes:**

Proactive, diligent, and dedicated.

Excellent time management skills; able to complete tasks efficiently.

Passionate about cooking and eager to learn new skills.

Able to work shifts, including early morning/late evening shifts and holidays.
