The OpenSearch team focuses on creating the best enterprise automation solution for search and analytics suites like OpenSearch and Elasticsearch.
This role is a globally remote position with openings across levels, and we will help identify a suitable position based on experience and interests.

What your day will look likeThe OpenSearch team automates OpenSearch operations, including fault-tolerant replication, TLS, installation, and more; and provides domain-specific expertise on the data system to other Canonical teams.
This role focuses on creating and automating features of data platforms, not analyzing the data in them.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate proactively with an internationally distributed teamWrite high-quality, idiomatic Python code to create new featuresDebug issues and interact with upstream communities publiclyWork with helpful and talented engineers including experts in a diverse set of fieldsWork from home with global travel for 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events
QualificationsProven hands-on experience in software development using PythonProven hands-on experience in distributed systems developmentBachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degreeWillingness to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events
