Overview
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is a leading supercomputing center in Spain, offering cutting‐edge research and infrastructure. The Technologies for Biomedical Research Lab (TechBioLab) within the Life Sciences Department is seeking a Junior front‐end web developer to support ongoing biomedical data projects.
Key Duties
Find ways to efficiently present results in static and interactive web dashboards: data visualization, graphs, summary statistics, metrics, and KPIs.
Contribute to the development of front‐end platforms and associated back‐end APIs for current research projects, in collaboration with back‐end engineers.
Ensure appropriate user experience in developed front‐end web interfaces.
Interact with cloud providers and HPC resources to distribute workloads from the front‐end perspective.
Collaborate with developers at INB/ELIXIR-ES and other ELIXIR nodes to implement agreed standards and methodologies.
Contribute to technical documentation and, where applicable, scientific dissemination.
Participate in internal group meetings and scientific discussions.
Support ongoing projects such as the Data Science Programme (IMPaCT), the European Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI), and the European Consortium for federated AI‐powered Medical Imaging (EUCAIM).
Requirements
Education
Higher vocational education related to Development of Web Applications or Bioinformatics, or a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
At least 6 months in a similar role.
Experience with modern web‐development frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular or React.
Experience with User‐Centered Design.
Experience with back‐end development (Node.js, Django, Flask).
Familiarity with REST APIs and database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL).
Experience with programming languages Python and/or JavaScript.
Basic understanding of bioinformatics data formats (VCF, FASTQ, BAM).
Experience in software quality management.
Experience working with Unix/Linux systems.
Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary research environment.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Data visualization libraries (D3.js, Plotly).
Experience with containers (Docker, Singularity), Git, CI/CD pipelines.
Experience developing project technical specifications.
Fluency in English, written and spoken; basic Spanish knowledge.

Conditions
Location: BSC, Life Sciences Department.
Contract: Full‐time, 35 hours/week, open‐ended due to project duration.
