Are you interested in becoming part of a technological center of excellence where you can contribute and add technological value to companies and institutions, focusing on research, development, and industrial innovation (R&D&I)? Would you like to work in a cutting‑edge environment with all the latest technological innovations at your fingertips?

Leitat is a benchmark technological center at both national and European levels. With more than 100 years of history, it has a team of over 400 professionals who are experts in applied research, technical services, and the management of technological and innovation initiatives. Leitat provides social, industrial, economic, and sustainable value by offering comprehensive solutions across multiple sectors and fields: health and biomedicine, development of new materials, eco‑sustainable production, occupational health and safety prevention systems, waste valorization and use of natural resources; industrial interconnectivity and digitalization, green energy, and maximization of energy efficiency. Leitat develops R&D&I projects for companies and institutions, and also leads research projects with competitive funding within both the European Union framework and the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

We are seeking a motivated and proactive researcher to join the Solar Conversion Technologies group. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of materials and components for sustainable solar fuel generation, within the framework of photoelectrochemical (PEC) and related solar‑driven conversion systems. The core of the activity will focus on the preparation, modification and characterization of functional materials for solar fuel and chemical production, contributing to their integration and performance evaluation at component level.

Research activities may include:

* Preparation and optimization of functional materials (e.g. thin films, nanostructured layers, photoactive or electrocatalytic materials) for solar fuel applications through scalable techniques.
* Structural, optical, electrical and (photo)electrochemical characterization of materials and components.
* Evaluation of materials performance in electrochemical and photoelectrochemical configurations.
* Contribution to the design, development and validation of lab‑scale devices or demonstrators.
* Data analysis, interpretation of results and performance benchmarking.

These activities will be carried out in close collaboration with national and international research centers, as well as industrial partners. The researcher will have access to advanced infrastructure for materials fabrication, processing and characterization.

* Preparation and processing of functional materials for solar energy conversion and solar fuels.
* Optical and (photo)electrochemical characterization of the engineered photoelectrodes in 3‑electrode cell.
* Contribution to scientific publications, technical reports and dissemination activities.

What do we expect from you?

EDUCATION: Degree in Chemistry / Materials Science / Chemical Engineering / Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, or related disciplines.

* Experience or strong interest in functional materials for energy conversion.
* Familiarity with materials characterization techniques (structural, optical and (photo)electrochemical).
* Basic knowledge of fundamental electrochemical techniques.
* Motivation to work in interdisciplinary and collaborative R&D environments.
* Ability to analyze experimental data and communicate results clearly.

Language:

* Good Spanish (optional)
