The project seeks to develop a framework for designing immigration policies and assessing their impact and their interactions with human capital accumulation. The project focuses on a large battery redistribution policy, optimal visa allocations among many others. Additionally, the project examines the consequences of immigration policies at destination for the origin country economies and the design of policies to mitigate potential negative effects.
The position will be based at IAE-CSIC, in the Bellaterra campus of the Barcelona School of Economics and will be supervised by the Principal Investigator of the project, Prof. Joan Llull. The position offers the opportunity to participate in the vibrant academic life of the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) community.
The ideal candidate has at least a master qualification, with strong analytical and computational/programming skills interested in the analysis of Migration and more broadly, on the estimation of structural models.
The successful applicant will participate in different aspects of the data preparation, model estimation, and, depending on qualifications, model simulation. The position is particularly appropriate for candidates with large experience in coding, knowledge of different programming language, and solid knowledge of economics and modeling.
Responsibilities include coding, data preparation, literature surveying, and participation in discussions with co-authors regarding relevant aspects of the project execution.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in coding and research, with a solid background of Stata. Knowledge of other programming languages, especially Fortran or other languages that could help candidates learn Fortran with relative ease will be highly valued.
