About the job
Based at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, as the Director of Spa & Wellness, you will oversee daily operations of the spa, fitness, and retail facilities. You will lead and manage the spa and fitness teams, ensuring top-notch service, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Your responsibilities include driving revenue, managing budgets, maintaining high-quality wellness programs, and ensuring the upkeep of all facilities. You will collaborate with other departments to enhance the guest experience and foster a positive work environment for staff.
As Director of Spa & Wellness, your duties include:
* Setting policies and objectives within the spa
* Taking reservations when necessary
* Handling dissatisfied guests
* Motivating retail sales and ensuring accurate recording of all sales
* Supervising safety and hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies
* Addressing mistakes and discussing procedures for correct performance
* Maintaining high scores on Mystery Shopper reports and achieving standards for a 5-star or 5-diamond rating
* Sign-off on training assessments to ensure standards are understood
* Sharing industry knowledge from shows or training
* Reviewing and updating SOPs for all spa colleagues
* Monitoring treatment standards and attention to detail
* Introducing new department heads to the spa philosophy and culture, including treatment demonstrations
* Supporting the company's philosophy through the Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences
* Maintaining fire, life, health, safety, security, and HACCP standards
* Ensuring grooming and appearance standards reflect professionalism
* Conducting annual appraisals and providing ongoing feedback
* Overseeing recruitment, induction, training, development, and discipline of spa staff
* Setting achievable goals for staff, including budget and retail targets
* Documenting performance and managing disciplinary procedures
Qualifications and experience
* Management experience in luxury hotels or resorts
* Strong background in wellness programs, retail management, and revenue growth
* Relevant certifications or training in spa and wellness management
Technical skills
* Knowledge of spa industry applications and holistic wellness concepts
* Compliance with local and corporate policies
* Knowledge of treatments and products
* Excellent communication skills in Spanish and English
* Strong management and organizational skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office
* Willingness to learn about treatments from diverse cultures
* Flexible schedule to fulfill responsibilities
