Mission:
To foster interest in and commitment to the learning of Mathematics within a diverse, inclusive, and international educational environment. To inspire students through meaningful mathematical experiences that cultivate core competencies—reasoning, problem-solving, mathematical communication, and critical thinking—empowering them to thrive in a globalized world.
Seeking to develop strong mathematical foundations and a deep conceptual understanding that prepare students to excel in an interconnected and constantly evolving environment, while nurturing an international mindset and an analytical perspective on the world.
Functions:
* Plan, prepare, develop, and deliver Mathematics courses in accordance with the school’s curriculum guidelines, institutional requirements, the IB Diploma Programme, and the Middle Years Programme framework.
* Design and implement lesson plans using a variety of instructional models, strategies, and techniques relevant to Mathematics.
* Use appropriate technology to support teaching, practical work, and the visualization of mathematical concepts.
* Collaborate with colleagues to review, develop, and draft vertical and horizontal curriculum documents, assessment criteria, and reporting structures.
* Stay up to date with international developments in the discipline, as well as new methodologies and pedagogical approaches in Mathematics education.
* Observe, monitor, and evaluate student learning and progress using a range of evidence and continuous assessment practices.
* Prepare assignments, assessments, problem-solving tasks, and other projects that foster mathematical reasoning and inquiry.
* Model inquiry-based learning and the attributes of the IB Learner Profile in the classroom.
* Differentiate units and lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners, adapting instruction according to individual abilities and prior achievement.
* Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of student progress and academic performance.
* Communicate students’ progress, needs, and assessments to tutors and/or families.
* Maintain appropriate student behaviour in the classroom and throughout school facilities, in line with the school’s behaviour policies.
* Prepare the classroom environment and maintain a safe, structured, and engaging learning space.
* Participate in meetings, professional development opportunities, and school-wide or institutional events.
* Be willing to participate in, support, or potentially lead initiatives related to school culture, interdisciplinary projects, field trips, events, and student well-being, contributing effectively to the personal, social, and academic development of students.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or a related field.
* Master’s Degree in Education (Teaching Qualification).
* Previous teaching experience in Mathematics.
* Preferably, experience in international educational settings.
* C1 level of English.
* Ability to communicate in Spanish.
