Academic Req:
Required – bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, human services or social services
Preferred - master's degree in the behavioral sciences, human services, or social
services fields
Certifications:
First Aid/CPR
Work experience:
Master's Degree - At least 2 years of progressive employment experience in these fields
that demonstrate case management experience
Bachelor's degree -- At least 4 years of progressive employment experience in these
fields that demonstrate case management experience.
Summary:
The trainer facilitates comprehensive training for newly hired and experienced Human
Trafficking Interdiction Division personnel, including program leadership, in accordance
with agency policies and procedures and state and federal standards and requirements.
Critical Action Items & Measurable Deliverables:
- Establish and implement a training strategy and agenda for the Common Thread Louisiana program
- Facilitate training continuously for experienced personnel, including leadership and to newly
hired personnel.
- Develop and continually update program training manuals and materials as requested.
- Occasional travel from one location to another is inclusive of distances greater than 50 miles from home
office requiring the use of personal vehicles for the purpose of ensuring greater understanding of
training needs for those in the field as well as providing in person training.
- Track training effectiveness by ensuring compliance with policies, protocols and training.
- Ensure all personnel are effectively trained to successfully implement all program service modalities,
both as new hires and on-going
- In collaboration with the Training Manager, Updates and maintains internal online training systems with
program training and training compliance, providing prompts should individuals fall behind in adhering to
required deadlines for trainings
- Meet all training deadlines required by various program supervisors and their state and federal partners
Essential Functions:
- Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.
- Develop and present relevant training to Human Trafficking Interdiction personnel that meets agency,
licensing and contract requirements and the individual needs of eachstaff.
- Collaborate with Common Thread Louisiana team to develop effective social work, safety, and other
program-related training materials which can be reviewed, approved, and implemented with minimal
revision.
- Collaboratively develop, plan and maintain adequate staff training opportunities that provide staff
numerous opportunities for skills and knowledge development and including staff on the evening
and overnight shifts.
- Assist with staff training database that provides monthly and quarterly reports related to training and the
impact of training on program practices and outcomes.
- Assist with Common Thread Louisiana program personnel files to ensure training records and training
certifications are recorded and filed.
- Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
- Implement BCFS HHS safety protocols in case of anemergency.
- Participate in scheduled meetings and team decisions and operations.
- Maintain confidentiality in all areas of the service population and program operations.
- Observe and ensure compliance with BCFS HHS professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined
in BCFS HHS employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, the service
population, and community members and always complying with required dress code.
Requirements:
- Acquire and maintain licenses and certificates required for the position which may include but is not
limited to: ☐ Trust Based Relationship Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner, ☐ Mental Health First Aid
Assist Training, ☐ Train the Trainer CSE-IT Certification, ☐ State Driver License ☐other certifications as
applicable
- Possess current auto insurance and provide verification upon request.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens
- Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request
- Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background check
- Demonstrate the ability to:
- Respond sensitively and competently to the service population's cultural and socio-economic
characteristics
- Work in a fast-paced environment and always maintain emotional control and composure
- Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position
- Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a
multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of all BCFS Health and Human Services policies and procedures.
