Offer Description
The IAC (Tenerife, Spain) invites applications for one PhD fellowship in Astrophysics within the framework of "ASTRI Mini Array" project, funded through an international agreement with INAF (Italy). The PhD project will be supervised by Drs. Alicia López Oramas and Josefa Becerra González.
The selected candidate will be based at the IAC headquarters in La Laguna (Tenerife), in a stimulating research environment, where they will carry out scientific work within the scope of a specific and innovative project, leading to the award of a PhD degree. They will join the "Particle Astrophysics" research group, which is part of major international collaborations in very high-energy gamma rays, such as MAGIC, LST, and CTAO, in addition to the ASTRI project. The research group not only focuses on high-energy studies but is also very active in the multi-frequency context, allowing for a comprehensive analysis of the most extreme processes in the Universe.
The research topics pursued at the IAC include most areas of Astrophysics: Solar Physics, Planetary Systems, Stellar and Interstellar Physics, Galaxy Formation and Evolution, Milky Way and Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics. These are supported by an ambitious instrumentation programme. Further information about the IAC's research programme, its Observatories and the 10.4 m telescope GTC is available on the IAC's Web site ( http://www.iac.es/ ).
To be considered, applicants must have a degree in Physics or Mathematics
The degree must satisfy the admission requirements of the University of La Laguna (ULL) PhD Programme in astrophysics, in which the student must register. The ULL requirements are satisfied by applicants with a MSc, as well as by those students with an Undergraduate Degree who have already obtained at least 300 credits (ETCs) of which at least 60 credits should correspond to an MSc Degree (other ways to fulfil the ULL requirements are possible; see the ULL website for details).
The candidates must satisfy the admission requirements by the deadline of this call.
Specific Requirements
Applicants may prove their eligibility to obtain the corresponding degree by submitting a personal academic certification showing that they have successfully completed the credits required to obtain the degree, along with proof of payment of the corresponding degree issuance fee.
In the case of degrees issued outside of Spain but within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), this certification must be submitted accompanied by a certified translation into Spanish or English.
Very important! If degrees are issued outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), the degree must be accompanied by a certified translation into Spanish or English, as well as its corresponding equivalence certificate or accreditation credential. The accreditation or equivalence of said degree may be accredited by proof of having initiated the corresponding procedure. Any decision by the competent authority denying said application will be grounds for termination of the contract.
The score of the degree must be 7,0 (on a scale of 1 to 10) or higher, and 7,5 for bachelor degrees + Master Degree.
The undergraduate or MSc degree required to register in the ULL PhD Programme must have been obtained on or since January 31, 2023.

b) Grants and Experience (10 pts)
c) Publications (10 pts)
2) Second phase: interview. (maximum score 20 points)
Candidates who have obtained at least 55 points in the first phase will be invited to an interview. The interview may be given in either Spanish or English (as chosen by the candidate) and take place using internet communication software (Zoom) that allows voice and image transmission.
During the interview, the candidate will present, for a maximum of 10 minutes, his/her vision about the suitability of his/her profile and grades to the position and his/her interest on the position. The presentation may be followed by questions by the Selection Committee.

In the case of certificates issued by non-Spanish institutions the candidates must specify the maximum and minimum qualifications within the corresponding evaluation system and what mark corresponds to the minimum pass grade.
In all those cases, when subjects re not graded in ECTS (European System for Credits), the conversion to ECTS must be done by the applicant.
If the certificate is issued in a language other than Spanish or English, it must be accompanied by its translation into either of these languages.
