On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Laboratory Manager to join the Quality & Environment team, reporting directly to the QFSE Director at the Els Monjos plant.
This role holds full responsibility for leading the Central Laboratory (Chemistry & Microbiology), managing a team of analysts and technicians, while remaining actively involved in routine analyses, method validation, and the implementation and maintenance of advanced laboratory technologies, including automation, robotics, and LIMS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the Central Laboratory (chemistry and microbiology), ensuring timely delivery of high-quality analytical results
- Perform hands‑on laboratory analyses and support peak workloads, validations, and team coverage when required
- Validate, implement, and continuously optimize analytical methods to ensure accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance
- Drive the adoption of new technologies (automation, robotics, LIMS) to improve efficiency and reduce manual work
- Act as LIMS owner, overseeing system configuration, data integrity, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization
- Ensure full compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures (e.g., GMP/GLP)
- Oversee quality control activities, including testing of raw materials and finished products, and manage deviations
- Lead, coach, and develop the laboratory team, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture
- Manage laboratory resources (equipment, consumables, and budget) to ensure operational efficiency and cost optimization
- Support internal and external audits and maintain accurate laboratory documentation (SOPs, validations, reports)
- Analyze laboratory data, generate KPIs, and provide insights to support quality and operational decision‑making
- Support OPEX and CAPEX budget management, including planning, cost control, and investment proposals related to automation and digital tools
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Quality, Production, R&D;, and other departments on strategic projects
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the laboratory, aligned with the company’s purpose and values
Candidate Profile:
Our client is looking for someone who brings:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, or a related discipline
- Proven experience as a Laboratory Technician or Analyst within a chemistry environment, ideally in food, pet food, pharmaceutical, or related industries
- Strong hands‑on expertise with analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, IR, titration)
- Solid experience in method implementation and validation covering the full analytical process (sample preparation, analysis, calculations, reporting) under GLP/GMP or similar standards
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for food or pet food production (considered a plus)
- Willingness to travel up to 10%
